This class teaches beginners the basics of competitive diving. Kids will practice approaches, jumps in various body positions, forward dives and back dives. To participate in this class, swimmers must be comfortable swimming in deep water without flotation devices.

Diving is permitted in swimming pools with a minimum water depth of nine foot during posted times only. Safety Policies for Swimming Lessons and Classes at YMCA Pools
Youth who have not passed the swim test may not go down slides or use pool diving boards, regardless of the presence of a parent or the use of a personal flotation device. For young children or those who have not passed the YMCA swim test—a Coast Guard—approved personal flotation device (the Y provides a life jacket if you do not have one).
