Texana is a variety of williamsii. Lophophora taxonomy is a bit of a mess. Depending on which authority you follow there can be anywhere from two species (williamsii and diffusa) to at least six. At a minimum any type that would be lumped under williamsii should be considered illegal in the US, while the diffusa group is legal.
