2020年1月22日 · I dont have any info on the Shiloh Sharps but I do have a 50-70 govt Remington Rolling Block. Mine is a carbine length built on a #5 action and re barreled and chambered in 50-70. Love it! MVA vernier tang sight. The ammo is easy to build with BP. Easy on the shoulder with the Lee 515-450 grn and 65 grains FFG Goex compressed.

2020年10月14日 · I finally got my hands on a Sharps 1863 carbine last month, this one being a Chiappa version, Shiloh Sharps no longer offers this one anymore. Not to mention I wanted something different than .45-70 so I went with the .50-70 Government.

2019年10月13日 · hi there thanks so much all..... the barrel is 6 groove.....and guess im lucky the bore is bright and no pitts very nice shape,,,,,cast a few boolits with an old dixie scissor mold i had ,,,,they mike to .512 was able to tap one in used my bench rest .50 cal short starter and ramrod with a guide to push it thru,,,,,boolit mikes to .5075 and seemed to have the same resistance …

2008年8月13日 · The .50-70 is one of the most inherently accurate calibers I've ever fooled with - not just my rifles, but every .50-70 with a fine bore that I've had the pleasure of shooting. IMO, it is an ignored (and superior) little brother to the .50-90 and .50-140 heavy ordnance.

2014年4月27日 · My third 50-70 is a 1868 model. Again a descent barrel but very fat throated. .517 is needed for best accuracy which is at 4 inches at 100 yards. Then my way came a Sharps Carbine. This is one of the ones relined to caliber 50-70. This carbine flat hurts with a 450 grainer in T-shirt weather.

2020年10月30日 · These are made by Chiappa, and I think are the best thing Chiappa puts out, especially in .50-70. Have one, and it is excellent. Aside from that, if you want an M1867/68 Sharps conversion carbine in .50-70, they are literally the only game in town.

2016年10月2日 · Mine is a copy of the Civil War percussion carbines that Sharps converted to centerfires in .50-70 in 1869 (I think). I could have gotten it in .50-70 but it was easier to get brass in .45-70, so I bought that non-historically authentic variant. I presume your Palmetto is perhaps done like a Confederate copy of my Sharps carbine.
