This movie didn't work for me because the Barbarians were depicted pretty much as Huns/Mongols/other warlike nomads. Any other setting would probably have worked. This just doesn't. Not when it is known how those nomads really acted in history. The "magistrate" actor carried the whole movie - not because of the writing, but because of the acting.

Jun 28, 2020 · The movie was supposedly released in 2019 and already has reviews, and yet no matter how much I've searched I cannot find the movie anywhere (let alone an actual trailer). You'd think a movie with Depp and Patterson would gather some attention. I've been wanting to watch this movie since 2018 and reading the book now has intrigued me again.

May 20, 2023 · Eh, I only really enjoy a movie doing something unexpected if it's not super dumb and contrived. I liked Justin Long's segment but thought the whole reveal was pretty lame and then the movie goes full ham at the end. Felt like it didn't know if it wanted to be a semi-serious film or a full-tilt crazed nightmare.
