[Tesla] AI training is no longer compute constrained
2024年3月22日 · Neural nets need two things - training data, and compute power. Compute was a constraint for a while. Tesla was very public about it. Now they say they're not compute constrained. They are not data constrained in the sense that there aren't enough cars in the field to collect new visual data / video clips to feed into the learning library.

2023年3月7日 · You can get Nvidia M40 24gbs for $120 on eBay. the 4090 probably has a 30x speed increase over m40. the 4090 is just better in every single way its not even a fair comparison it's sorta like comparing a musket to a laser rifle. plus the M40 will need custom power adapters and a DIY cooling system. 3.

ADMIN MOD. Tesla uploading 2+TB of FSD training data. Several minutes after parking our MYLR today, my wife was puzzled by a loud fan noise. She first guessed it might be the climate control, but that wasn't it. I discovered the car was busy uploading what we can only guess FSD training data— a whopping 2.4TB in the last 30 days alone! 🤯.

2023年11月20日 · The Tesla P40 is much faster at GGUF than the P100 at GGUF. At a rate of 25-30t/s vs 15-20t/s running Q8 GGUF models. Possibly because it supports int8 and that is somehow used on it using its higher CUDA 6.1. I’ve found that combining a P40 and P100 would result in a reduction in performance to in between what a P40 and P100 does by itself.
Is Tesla P100 still a good card for deep learning?

They will both do the job fine but the P100 will be more efficient for training neural networks. That is just what I remember reading a while back.

I was able to get these for between $120-$150 shipped by making offers. the Tesla P100 pci-e, a Pascal architecture card with 16GB of VRAM on board, and an expanded feature set over the Maxwell architecture cards.
