How fast they age depends on the aggregate amount of energy that goes through them (other things like heat play a role). The reason why static elements are bad is because it ages the pixels in a noticeable pattern that will be visible on other content.

Our eyes naturally create some bloom anyway if there's a little bit of white on a black screen (cover the white and the bloom disappears), so there are diminishing returns on the amount of dimming zones.
