Yes, it is OO. I haven't yet delved in N gauge but I definitely like the idea of being able to fit more track in a smaller space (6x4 ft for N gauge would be tonnes of room!). Found some great N gauge layouts at exhibitions. Thanks for the comment and good luck with the layout.

2013年8月25日 · Hi, You can get some really compact N gauge layouts and there is a lot more scope for trains and accessories with N. As for brands, it depends what you are looking to model US, British, German, Swiss, Japanese. Most companies specialize in one area. I model Japanese N-gauge, good brands are Kato, Tomix, Microace, Greenmax, Modemo.

The cheaper the locomotive, the more likely its going to have cheap plastic internal gears that break soon (Bachmann, im looking at you). $150+ is my personal threshold for good quality HO (varies depending in if its steam or diesel).

2022年10月8日 · I have found that Kato is by far, the best manufacturer of N scale locomotives. While some manufacturers make more detailed, or higher quality locomotives, they are very overpriced whereas Kato makes excellent quality locos for their prices. As for the Kato track, it is my personal favorite track in N scale, and I use it for my layout.

Back then, railway modellers (including the great John Allen) were just starting to figure out how to build "proper" model train layouts rather than simple toy train layouts. If you're serious about model trains then I recommend you go for something more modern instead, as most of these old layouts did not stand the test of time.

2022年8月15日 · Try to put at least a few inches of straight track between a curve and any switch. If you don't you're going to see a lot of derailments as cars coming out of the curve tend to pick the points on the switch.
Generally speaking, are Dapol N-gauge models of good quality?
2022年11月3日 · Dapol are great, most of the bad reviews are just sour grapes because they fell out with RMweb. There's a lot of weird cliques in the model railway press, forums, and blogosphere... some support Andy York (RMweb) some don't, but the ones that do always seem to be singing off the same hymn sheet.
