2007年10月15日 · Two recurring frustrations with Minwax: 1) I always have a difficult time getting an acceptable finish with Minwax polyurethane right out of the can. It seems that every time i use it, i have to thin it some or i have a tremendous amount of work between coats to get it smooth. 2) Their metal in their quart cans is too thin.

2010年10月15日 · I have a cabinet full of partial used Minwax. I have nexer had a problem using old minwax. Over time the pigments settle to the bottom and have to be stirred up (but have also bought new and had to stir). I would say you have a scored a stash of stains that you can use whenever you need them and to not worry about shelf life.

First get an aerosol can of Minwax satin clear poly, and spray a light sealer coat over the raw tweed--this will prevent the Polyshades colour from bleeding in differently. Once dry, I brush on a coat of Honeypine, then a second coat while tacky. Let dry thoroughly and a quick scrub with fine steel wool or a 3M pad.

2011年4月19日 · Not sure what waterbased poly you're considering, but I've sprayed both Minwax PolyCrylic and Target Coatings Ultima Spray Lacquer (USL) with good results. (Target has replaced USL with a similar acrylic lacquer called EM6000.) I've used both a turbine-powered HVLP gun as well as a compressor-powered HVLP gun, and both worked well.

2015年12月26日 · Doing a project with a clock temp gauge and about mid way through I stumbled onto a new way to put on Minwax wipe on poly. Usually I cut small pieces of T-shirt to put this stuff on, I use rubber gloves etc...always had a problem with runs, wipe marks, lint, you name it which required lots of sanding between coats.

Shellac or Lacquer for the tweed? What's the difference?
2011年2月1日 · While I can't comment on the merits of either shellac or lacquer over tweed, I can tell you the fundamental differences: shellac is a natural product and environmentally friendly, whereas lacquer (especially nitrocellulose) is highly volatile, bad for the environment, and definitely requires better-than-adequate ventilation.
