2010年4月12日 · i have a 79 ironhead sportster, generator charging system. i have an issue with it not charging, or something to that effect. i went for a ride shortly after buying the bike and when i got back from the ride the battery didn't have enough power to turn the engine over.

2014年7月17日 · Buddy has an '80 ironhead that won't charge. New battery, new regulator, new generator. All fuses and circuit breakers are good. Generator max voltage test checks out fine, it's making voltage when it spins, and it was polarized before installation.

An ammeter is a multimeter set to read DC current in amps. The ohmmeter section of the multimeter will test for continuity.

It should be at least 1.0 volts higher than the not-running reading, otherwise the charging system is not charging the battery.

2004年9月8日 · The best test is with a Volt-Ohm-Meter checking charging voltage at the battery in the shop. Rev engine to about 2,000 prm and test for anything over 13+ volts. If it's steady, then you just need a better voltmeter.
