2012年1月14日 · The IPA wipedown is to remove any previously used product from the paint, like waxes, sealants, or glazes. The idea is to clean the finish off so that you can reapply products, or, to get ready for your machine polishing session so that any residual product will not get into the polishing pads. Basically, it gives you wax-free/sealant-free paint.

Polishes may leave some oils and residues behind that MAY mask some minor imperfections... in no way is an IPA wipe down required, but if you want to make sure you polished the car out 100% then you would do the wipe down after your final polishing step, but before you start any sealant, glaze, or wax.

2015年6月19日 · The IPA wipe down is really no big deal. Just dilute 90% IPA to about 50% with distilled water, spray it on the paint and wipe it off. This will remove even more of the sealant and wax leaving very little left on the paint. It will not hurt your microfibers. Just wash them normally.

Did some polishing with the pc a few weeks ago and used isopropyl/rubbing alcohol (i think 70% alcohol), like i have seen others recommend to remove wax before polishing. Worked well, just squirted some on a microfiber and a few swipes on the paint and the wax was removed.

I'm curious to how you do this because the Detail Spray and Waterless Wash have high lubricity properties to them and H2O with IPA wouldn't. What's the safeist way to do it? Thanks

2011年9月3日 · Claying will remove most to all previous wax applications while also removing any dirt/gunk that has gotten into the paint. Also you shouldn't have to clay every time you wax but after a handful of applications it would be smart to strip the wax during a regular wash so you don't get hazing.

2013年9月23日 · The polymer based sealants do more chemical bonding than anything, so a strip wash will degrade them some but honestly a wipe down with IPA will do just as well. Automatic car washes give a lot of fluff, the colored soap is supposed to make it look fun, trust me they aren't adding any protection to your paint no more than a coat of big box ...
