2009年10月13日 · The only thing you can do for the pitting on your pot metal is sand off all the plating (copper/nickel/chrome) and then sand out the pits. Then buff up the raw die-cast base metal to a very bright shine. Clear it or polish it every week. Other than that, it needs new plating.

2008年2月7日 · You can remove rust with a good chrome polish from the auto store and some hard rubbing. I use Turtle Wax chrome polish. The pitting is caused by corrosion of the metal underneath the plating. Gas is released, and it pushes it's way thru the plating, causing those pit marks which are like little volcanoes.

Paul's Chrome at their booth told me once at a NSRA meet in Knoxville that once the pitting is removed they continue to build up copper plate with intermediate buffing and more copper plating until the pit is covered and level with the original surface.

2010年8月23日 · the green corrosion is coming from the copper plating under the chrome, it will just come back with out having enough plating over the copper. it could also come out from under a seam, like on a wheel..the mating surfaces of the joint or seam didnt get plating, so the copper is oxidizing in the unprotected area.

I use oooo, and semichrome or bronze wool . which is like steel wool but made from bronze , you get it at home depot in the paint dept as its uded for furniture wood finishing . it will not scratch chrome , we use it to finish polish aluminum semi truck rims to the chrome like surface ..
