Heat pump compressor failures - twice within 30 days
2018年8月28日 · The heat pump unit was installed brand new less than 6 years ago. The original compressor failed in July, and the dealer service replaced it (the part was under warranty, but the 5 year labor warranty had expired 6 months ago, so we still had to shell out $1200).

Kinda like our first electric water heater lasted 30 years, second one now being replaced at 12 years. Running on just the heap pump with no resistance heat, the HP can keep us comfortable down to about 10'F.

2023年3月30日 · So there is no such thing as having separate A/C coil inside and a heat pump condenser inside. They are one in the same piece, just depending on which way the refrigerant flows from the compressor. Heat pump mode is just switching the condenser and evaporator functions from how they are in A/C mode. You also only have one outside compressor unit.

I do agree that the limited contractors and potential problems make it a less than optimum choice for most applications. Many new heat pump systems are reaching efficiencies that are making geothermal an even harder choice to justify.
