L8T=excessive oil burn, timing chain issues, knock sensor issues, exhaust leaks, carbon deposits (although adding fuel treatment would reduce them) Reliability = L5P wins.

You have had one duramax doing the same, so you know what you’re getting into, the truck and the engine are just bigger. The bigger truck is nice.

2023年5月25日 · My gas Chevy got about the same mileage empty as the Duramax trucks I've owned. Towing mileage was about 10-20% lower than diesel. I could tow my personal 26ft 5th wheel and get 8-9mpg. My diesels got 10. I really liked my 6.0 GMC but the 6.6 was noticeably more powerful and got better mileage.

It helps to remember a few things. 1) The cylinders/pistons are numbered from "1" at the front of the engine to "8" at the back in the order that the piston rods connect to the crankshaft. It is a simple system. 2) Cylinders 2, 4, 6 & 8 are NOT, I repeat, NOT directly opposite cylinders 1, 3, 5 and 7.

Engine life long term we have no idea, the 6.6L most likely has a longer life and I'd guess it'd be more reliable, but the repair costs of the 6.6L are much, MUCH higher if it does break. Daily driving the 6.6L sucks. Awful throttle response and fuel economy in city driving. 04 LB7 RIP, 24 L5P.

4201 posts · Joined 2012. #26 · Oct 13, 2014. Rotella T 15W40 is a conventional oil, and is high quality. It is what I run in my truck, but Delo, Delvac, etc., are good as well. The Rotella T6 is a full synthetic 5W40 oil. It will provide easier low temperature starts, and a thinner wallet.

2021年3月30日 · Pop off both batteries (10mm), disconnect the sensor from the harness. Pull the sensor (10mm) pull up and out. Will give a little resistance because of the O-ring. I used the straw on the can to knock off the big stuff, then a q-tip to rub it down good.
