After our heroes arrive in Virbank City, they run into their filmmaking friend Luke! He is there to attend the opening of Pokéstar Studios, a movie theme park within the film studio lots.

On their way to the Virbank City Gym, our heroes come across several Trainers who are still reeling from their defeat at the hands of the Gym Leader, Roxie, who specializes in Poison types.
