Nearly 16,000-year-old portrayals of fish surrounded by nets had evaded detection until a new technique took magnification to a new level.

A series of ancient drawings at a Palaeolithic site in Germany appear to show fish caught in nets, suggesting that the use of this fishing technology may go back further than previously thought.
