To help explain what is happening in the Kepler-51 system, the research team revisited previous transit data from NASA’s Kepler space telescope and NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS).
Scientists using the powerful James Webb Space Telescope sought to observe a planet beyond our solar system (an exoplanet) called Kepler-51d, an unusual "puffy" world with a cotton candy-like density.
