We visited @the Cairngorm Reindeer Herd, Aviemore, on Friday, where we enjoyed the privilege of hand feeding and then mingling amongst these majestic, yet gentle creatures. As always, the mountain sc… Peter K的完整评论
If I understand the other comments correctly, one may spend about 2 hours on the hill trip, and another hour on the paddocks. Would anyone advise how to spend the remaining hours of the day after that we are taking the 11am hill trip in Nov 2022? Is there a cafe nearby for lunch?

Hi. There are a number of cafes and gift shops very nearby the Paddock. There is a café and visitor centre one next door to the paddock which is fairly reasonable. The next one is on the left hand side of the road as you head toward Aviemore. This one has a terrace where squirrels and birds feed a few feet away from you. The third on is nearer Rothiemurchus and is on the right hand side of the road as you head toward Aviemore. The café is nice and the gift shop has a range of interesting things. Aviemore itself has a good range of cafes and shops. If you want something more then try the wildlife centre at Kingussie, a few miles down the road (south). The Polar Bear cub is there as well as new Wolf cubs. A nice drive through as well as some walk ways. A few miles north is the Heather Centre which is a great garden centre with a superb café. They too have a feeding site for birds. Hope that helps.
Be in Inverness late October. Can this visit be done as a day trip by train from Inverness?

Will this excursion be available 15th,16th,17th March please? How much per person and how long is the walk up? Steep walk or easy enough? xx

Hi, Thanks for all the answers from other visitors, most of the info given by othewrs is very accurate indeed. We will be open for these days, and around this time of the year we have to locate the herd in the morning before we run the visit, so it is worth giving us a call at around 9am to make sure the tour is on. This also means that the walk out differs each visit, so it may be far (45 min) and difficult with a steep climb through heathery, boggy terrain, or it may mean it's fairly easy (20-25 min) following a path that goes up and down slightly, like others have said here. So please be aware it may be hard, it's not always easy! Also bear in mind that the weather is very unpredictable, so good waterproof trousers, jackets and shoes (we do rent out wellies if necessary) are vital.
