The zoo I visited was in Melbourne, this city is about 1hours flight from Sydney. If you are in Sydney go to the Sydney zoo, it is also great. Called Taronga zoo with details found on Trip Advisor. Get the ferry across the harbour and then take the cable car to the top of the hill, the zoo is then a pleasant downhill walk back to the ferry terminal.

When is the best time to arrive to avoid long queues as it’s school holidays now (Melb)?

We visited the zoo during school holidays and found that the queue moved very quickly. We did arrive in the morning though. Food is very expensive so make sure you take your own.
