Really enjoyed hiking around, stunning view of the valley and mountains around or even the lake on the other side by going a bit higher Alptrans的完整评论

Our tour group of 15 enjoyed a brief visit to the Visitor Centre and then walked to the turf-and-creel house. Along the way, majestic mountains rose from the glen. But there’s a dark side to the beau… DeanMurphy2020的完整评论

Hi, We are wanting to visit Glencoe and Glen Nevis next week. We won't be climbing any peaks, keeping to only easy pathways and roads. Will it be dangerous/icy? Or is it better to wait until March time instead? Is it worth going at this time of year basically.
答:
Be prepared for the weather to change very quickly during Jan/Feb.

Really depends on where you are starting from and returning to. It is 2.5 hour drive from Glasgow to Glencoe on the A82 which is the scenic part. We actually drive from Edunburgh to Skye through Glencoe and made a day of it. That is really all I can vouch for. The A82 is a gorgeous drive though with plenty of pull offs - you should definitely do it - even if you have to go out and back! Best views in my opinion are between Tyndrum and Glencoe!

I will driving from Iona to Glencoe, then on to Eilean Donan, then hoping to be on Skye by nightfall. How much time should I plan on spending in Glencoe? I will leave Iona as early as six am and then will be in Glencoe around 9 am. Is four hours in Glencoe enough? From what I have read, there is no point in going inside Eilean Donan (if you have been, perhaps you could give me your opinion), so I only expect to spend about an hour there. Thank you!

Hi Beth... I think your planning is right on. I can't speak for the Iona stretch, but we were in Glencoe, Eilean Donan and Skye only a fortnight ago. There will always be folk who will say you need more time in Glencoe, but in 4 hours you will get a very real and very beautiful sense of the place. The A82 road which runs in and out of Glencoe is a beauty. It is one of the most scenic roads in the UK. Be sure to turn left off it along a road signposting Glen Etive and it'll take you into a very quiet and picturesque valley that seems to hardly attract any visitors. I have posted photos on my recent reviews, if you would like a sneak Peak. Also worth a visit is the Glencoe Mountain Resort, where you can ride the chairlift up into the mountains. You'll have time for that. There are also some nice viewpoints for stopping along the main road through Glencoe as you make your way to Fort William. As for Eilean Donan, the view of it upon the lake was all we wanted. And it is lovely. We weren't interested in the interior. There is a nice cafe there too. And Skye... As you will already know, is such a spectacularly beautiful place... You will really love it. Again, I have reviewed and photographed it all, if that can be any help to you. Wish you a happy trip and some glorious weather... ☺️

Yes. You’ll be fine if you take your time and pay attention. A few years ago my mom and I took my teen boys and nephew to Scotland for a month. This was my first time driving anywhere in the Uk. We picked up a car in Edinburgh and drove all over! To Aberdeen, Inverness, Loch Ness, Sterling, Ft William and up to Orkney. No one drives fast, but take your time on the round abouts. I’ve driven all over England and Wales since, but Scotland definitely the most comfortable.
