Is the water fountain turned off at certain times of the year? I visited Bologna in early March 2019 and while I I assume the restoration works were finished as there were no fences or any sign of work the fountain was not running. This was just after the winter storm had swept through Europe. Could it have been turned off due to that?

i visited in september 2018, there were no fences aand now that you say, the water was not running

Hi Andher, when we visited in June the renovation was still happening. I would guess that it is completed by now but if not you can still get good views of the statue from the Piazza. …
