Most likely to see snakes (Milk, garter, hognose, & bullsnakes, are typical but not commonly encountered snakes), generally moving away. Non poisonous snakes outnumber our famous prairie rattler. While rattlesnakes inhabit Wyoming, they don't want to see you anymore than you want to see them. Stepping up on a rock/log instead of over, may prevent both parties from being surprised. Not reaching up on a warm rock surface (especially West facing ledges in afternoon sun) where you can't see, is another common sense way of avoiding unpleasant surprises.
