Where is the small parking lot that is referenced in movies with the abandoned cars and in people’s blogs that leads to the entrance to the forest? We’ve been through the ice cave entrances and the trail around there. Isn’t there one on route 71? Does anyone have a google map reference? I’d like to visit it again but away from the more touristy areas. Last trip we ran into several groups of tourists.

Actually that's probably for show and not so much a reality. The local Japanese government removes these things quickly. There are various parking lots with entrance into the forest proper.
